About VidLingo

VidLingo is a language-learning player. It takes any video and adds word-synced, dual-language subtitles so you can learn from the shows, music and creators you already like instead of from textbook dialogues.

How it works

  1. Pick a video from the library, or bring your own by pasting a YouTube link or uploading a file.
  2. Watch with the transcript beside the video. Words highlight as they are spoken and the translation stays lined up underneath.
  3. Tap a word to see what it means and save it to your vocabulary. Review saved words later with flashcards.
  4. Spot a mistake in the transcript? Open the editor and fix it. Once other learners confirm your edit, it goes live for everyone.

What we believe

Word-level sync, not line-level

Every word lights up the moment it is spoken. You always know exactly what you are hearing, even at full speed, and you can click any word to jump the video back to it.

Two languages on screen

The original transcript and a translation sit side by side, line for line. Read the target language first and glance at your own only when you need to.

Any video you care about

Paste a YouTube link or upload your own file. If a transcript already exists in the library you can watch it right away; if not, our AI pipeline transcribes and aligns it for you.

Corrected by the community

Automatic transcripts make mistakes. Anyone can fix a word in the editor, and a fix goes live once other learners confirm it. Every transcript gets better the more people watch it.

Built for your phone

VidLingo is a mobile web app. There is nothing to install, and the watch page is designed for a portrait screen with big tap targets.

Where we are

VidLingo is a small, early product. The player, transcript library, community editor and vocabulary tools work today; some features on our pricing page are marked “coming soon” because they are still being built. If something is broken or missing, we would genuinely like to hear about it.
